Intelligent design is the assertion that "certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection."  Many scientists who ascribe to this theory hold there I.D. beliefs secret because of the wrath they fear from the scientific dictatorship that has sought to control the flow of ideas and information.  Intelligent design is a legitimate scientific theory that attempts to describe evolution and the anomalies that Darwinism fails to account for.  Intelligent design has been discredited by some for being Creationism in disguise.  Although many creationist and religious people have supported this theory, it is definitely not creationism in disguise.  It appears according the scientists who support this theory that we live in an intelligent universe, where evolution is intelligently and consciously guided as opposed to the randomness of the Darwinian Model.  

Intelligent design is a broad theory that may has many supporters.  Some supporters hold beliefs that earth may have been seeded by ET's.  Some supporters emphasize the role of consciousness of the universe as a whole that seeks to improve and perfect itself.  The emphasize that perhaps there is a divine will and a divine intelligent creator working beyond our wildest comprehensions.  Many people point to the fact that Darwinian evolution does not accout for the creation of the cell.  A many scientist have regarded the complexity of a single cell being more complex than any know technology, yet there is template know for which it evolved from.  There is no know evidence how the biosphere evolved out of the abiotic.  This at times seem to appear out of nowhere.
