Atlantis is a legendary island first mentioned in Plato's dialogues Timaeus and Critias.  In Plato's account, Atlantis was a naval power lying "in front of the Pillars of Hercules" that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9600 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean "in a single day and night of misfortune.

Edgar Cayce, famous for his channeling information from his super-consciousness or the akashic field, once called Atlantis a technologically advanced civilization, with airplanes and ships powered by energy crystals.  The case for a pre-diluvial civilization with advanced technology is probably.  It is depicted in many forms of art.  Many people believe the sphinx and the great pyramids to be remnants or relics of an Atlantean civilization.   

 Atlantis has stimulated our thoughts and our imaginations in popular culture.  But perhaps Atlantis is real and was the source of ancient knowledge.  With newly discovered ancient civilizations now underwater, Atlantis becomes more than a possibility.
